In 2016, Tamkeen launched startAD, an Abu Dhabi-based accelerator to enable early-stage startups to develop and scale their commercial ventures alongside local and global partners.

startAD entrepreneurs have raised $266 million in investment to date, generated over $50 million in revenue, secured over 83 pilot projects with international corporations, and accelerated over 545 startups (46% of which are based in the UAE).

Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, startAD also runs the Emirati Women Achievers (EWA) network, which recognizes and supports pioneering Emirati Women for their innovation and entrepreneurship.

• Since the initial EWA launch (‘51 for 51’), startAD has expanded the initiative into a wider network, integrating Emirati Women Achievers (EWAs) into its ecosystem as mentors, speakers, and investors, building a growing comradery of inspiring Emirati female role models who create a ripple effect of inspiration, provide support, and offer opportunities to others.
• To date, over 80 EWA’s have been recognized for their contributions to shaping the future of the UAE’s environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
• EWA has partnered with the likes of US Mission in UAE and the International Arab Women’s Forum.
