FoodTech Challenge

The FoodTech Challenge (FTC) was launched in 2019 under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The competition identifies leading food tech start-ups globally and facilitates their set-up and foundation for success in the UAE. FTC supports the UAE’s 2051 National Food Security Strategy and its efforts to become an international leader in the Food Technology space

What began as an initiative to raise awareness and catalyze participation within the UAE's burgeoning food tech ecosystem has rapidly evolved into a global movement. In just two editions, the FoodTech Challenge has garnered over 1,100 applications from start-ups across 98 countries.

The second edition of the FoodTech Challenge was delivered by the Ministry of Climate Change & Environment (MoCCAE) and Tamkeen. The International Affairs Office at the Presidential Court and Tamkeen will deliver the upcoming third edition.

Partners that have previously supported the FoodTech Challenge include Emirates Foundation, ADQ, Silal, Abu Dhabi Global Market, Ma'an - the Authority for Social Contribution, Masdar, Hub71, and Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development.
